IRS Collection Process

Most people don't know or understand the IRS Collection Process. We hope this short explanation helps.

  • Disagree with your tax bill,
  • Meet with an IRS Manager regarding disagreements,
  • Appeal most IRS Collection Actions, including liens, levies on wages and bank accounts, and seized property,
  • Transfer your case to a different IRS office,
  • Be represented by an Attorney,
  • Receive a receipt for the payments you have made.

Upon receipt of your tax bill, if you are unable to pay the full amount due immediately, the following options are available to you:

  • You can arrange a monthly installment agreement with the IRS,
  • You may apply for an offer in Compromise,
  • You may also be permitted a delay because of a significant financial hardship.

There are advantages and disadvantages to each of the above options. Your personal situation will determine which option is best for you. We will be available by appointment to discuss your particular situation.

Remember...You Must Respond. Non-Action Will Result In Levy Proceedings.
